The Great St. Bernard Pass and its dogs

The museum presents a collection of artworks and objects that tell the story of the hospice and of the Great St. Bernard Pass and its dogs. It uses a state-of-the-art interactive display to highlight this legacy, promoting the Swiss national dog as a universal icon.

In this part of the museum, we present, among other things, François the Pilgrim’s journey across the Great St. Bernard as it would have been undertaken around 1850, showing pictures and artefacts of the armies that crossed the pass.

Bringing brightness and cheer to the exhibition is the part showcasing the St. Bernard’s role in advertising and film: What Lassie was capable of, St. Bernards have been doing for quite some time.
